The Schlossparkradrunde

The starting point for the Schlossparkradrunde in the Allgäu is conveniently directly Füssen, whose heart is the romantic old town with its numerous historic houses and churches, cozy cafes and snacky shops. Particularly important attractions in Füssen are the old Benedectin monastery of St. Mang and the High Castle, which towers over the old town. The route of the Schlossparkradrunde leads over the wild romantic Lech to Hohenschwangau, where the famous Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles stand in a picturesque mountain landscape. Nearby is the Alpsee, once the favourite bathing lake of Ludwig II., on whose shore is the Museum of the Alps. Bavarian kings are located. Through an idyllic Allgäu dream landscape, the route continues in a northerly direction until it reaches the Bavarian “Pfaffenwinkel”, where the next sightseeing highlight awaits at Steingaden: the magnificent pilgrimage church on the Wies, in short Wieskirche, which is one of the most beautiful and famous Bavarian churches.

In the further course, the long-distance cycle path leads over old railway paths and low-traffic secondary roads into the rural northern castle park. The cyclists pass through small towns and villages before reaching the northernmost point of the round at Gennach. Then it goes along the Wertach to the Kneipp spa town of Bad Wörishofen. Fantastic alpine panoramas accompany the cyclists as they drive through typical Allgäu villages to Nesselwang. Via Pfronten and the worth seeing Berger Moos, the route leads back to Füssen, past the Weißensee.
