Holiday fun on the bicycle round Allgäu

The tour “Classic Cyclists” presented here combines two stages of the Allgäu cycle round into an approx. 40 A long distance along which many beautiful impressions await. The prospective round trip delights with a varied route and is especially in summer a pleasure, as several bathing lakes allow a soothing cooling on the way.

The Allgäu cycle is a 2013 opened approximately 450 Kilometers of long-distance cycle path, which was chosen by the ADFC as a quality route with four stars. Unlike conventional long-distance cycle paths that run from A to B, the cycle round is a round trip in which you can put together the route yourself and get on at any time. The long-distance cycling trail is divided into different themed worlds, with the city of Füssen being the center of the so-called “Schlosspark”. The combination stage presented here leads to round 40 Kilometers through the castle park and inspires with a varied route and many attractions on the roadside. Since on the way also one or the other short climb is to be mastered, this tour is classified as medium difficult. So you should bring a bit of condition, then nothing stands in the way of holiday happiness on the bike. Start and finish point of the tour, for which a good three hours have to be planned, is the Tourist Information in Füssen.

From Tourist Information in the picturesque old town of Füssen you drive to Forggensee, the largest lake in the Allgäu. This reservoir, which reaches its full water level only in summer, is a popular local recreational destination used for numerous sports and leisure activities. Enjoy the views over the turquoise blue water to the fairytale castle Neuschwanstein as you follow the shore path towards Osterreinen. Until here you could orient yourself on the signage of the bike round Allgäu, now a small detour over Rieden to the Faulensee is on. The dreamy Faulensee lies in the middle of the forest and on its shore is a rustic hut that is wonderful suitable for a rest. Let yourself taste homemade cakes or a warm Allgäu treat on the cozy terrace before continuing the tour. On warm days you can treat yourself to a small cooling in the Faulensee.

In the following cycle through the Hopfener Wald and south under the Senkele High Train past to Seeg and on to the Schwaltenweiher. Here you should get off the bike again to really enjoy the dreamlike natural scenery. Due to the magnificent mountain panorama with a view of the Allgäuer and Tannheimer peaks, the Schwaltenweiher and Seeg are also often called "Lodge Square in front of the Alps". In summer, the pond is a leisure paradise and offers opportunities for swimming, boating and playing beach volleyball on the shore. From the Schwaltenweiher you continue to Eisenberg, where the signage of the bike round Allgäu leads back to Füssen. On the way they come along past the Bergkäserei Weizern, where a stopover is worthwhile. The cheese and dairy specialities made from fresh Allgäuer whole milk will spoil your palate.
