The Beichelstein Round

The Beichelstein Round is a varied mountain bike tour that leads through the picturesque Allgäu landscape around the Füssen district of Hopfen am See – also known as the “Riviera des Allgäus”. It has an easy claim and is therefore also suitable for MTB beginners who can look forward to beautiful nature impressions, wonderful views of the pre-Alpine country and culinary delicacies in the Alpe Beichelstein along the route. Start and finish point of the Beichelstein Round is the Kneipp and Luftkurort Hopfen am See, which belongs to Füssen. Here there is a beautiful waterfront that offers an unforgettable panoramic view of Neuschwanstein Castle and the mountains the Ammergauer, Lechtaler, Tannheimer and Allgäuer Alpen. Around the hop lake, which is one of the warmest pre-Alpine lakes, numerous leisure activities are possible throughout the year.

In addition to hikers, pleasure cyclists, recreational seekers and water sports lovers, the area also attracts mountain bikers who, for example, have a lot of fun at the Beichelstein round presented here and can collect varied holiday impressions. For the mountain bike tour, which is a length of 23,5 km and starts at the Tourist Information in hops on the lake, must be planned about one and a half hours. The journey to hops takes place via feet on the B310 towards Weißensee. There hops on the lake are signposted. Parking is available here, among other things, on the west bank of the hop lake, at the exit towards Hopferau. Mountain bikers who travel by public transport arrive from the train and bus station in Füssen every hour by bus line 56 for hops on the lake.

Before the mountain bike tour really starts, it is recommended to stroll along the waterfront on the Riviera des Allgäus and enjoy the dream view. By the way, the name “Riviera des Allgäus” was given to hops on the lake, because there is an almost southern flair in front of a unique Alpine panorama. After the mountain bikers have swung on their bike, they drive along the shore of the hop lake and then make their way to the crisp climb to the castle ruin hops. The high medieval alpine castle, which is the oldest stone castle in the Allgäu, first appeared in 12. It was the home of a Welfish family of servants. Later she served the Füssener Propst as an official residence before she 1322 was abandoned and began to decay. After the mountain bikers have enjoyed the view from Burg Hopfen, they drive past the hamlets Rohrweiher and Hopferwald to Oberlangegg, where a small chapel stands, which is very worth seeing. Afterwards we continue to the Beichelstein Alpine, which on 952 Altitude meters and is surrounded by picturesque meadows, where the young cattle graze in summer. On the terrace, or in bad weather in the interiors of the Alps, the mountain bikers can make themselves comfortable and enjoy a delicious bread time, coffee and cake or a warm Allgäuer hut dish. From the Alps you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Allgäuer, Lechtaler and Tannheimer peaks. After the cozy stop in the Beichelstein Alps, we continue downhill towards Goimenen and along the pastures on the Senkele high train over the small hamlet Hinterzwieselberg to the Faulensee. On warm summer days, the Moutainbikers can enjoy a Give a welcome little refrigeration when you have packed swimwear in the Radrucksack. Over the Enzensberg the bikers then drive back to Hopfen am See, to the starting point of this beautiful tour.

Instead of driving from the Beichelstein Alps towards the Goimenen, the mountain bikers at the crossroads shortly behind the Alps can also turn east to the unmanaged Senkealpe. Then they drive over the prospective Senkele high-altitude train and through a beech forest, about whose creation information boards on the roadside inform. After they have followed the Ostallgäuer hiking trail, they turn right to reach the Koppenkreuz via the small pest cemetery. Afterwards we go back to the castle ruin hops and down to the starting point of the tour in Hopfen am See. After the charming Beichelstein round, the mountain bikers have the opportunity to enter the Cozy cafes and restaurants in hops on the lake to relax or have fun on the hop lake. If the weather plays along, for example, the beach bath on the hop lake is a nice destination, which includes cozy lying meadows. Also worthwhile are boat trips with the pedal or rowing boat on this magnificent Voralpensee.

At the Beichelstein round mountain bikers are spoiled with really beautiful landscape impressions and views over the wide Allgäuer Voralpenland.
