In and around Füssen bring a numerous mountain railways to the impressive peaks in the area or to charming higher hiking and skiing areas.

The Tegelbergbahn leads to attractive routes in the hiking area of the Allgäu Alps, such as the Schutzengelweg, the Ahornreitweg to Bleckenau or the Hochplatte on 2082 meters in height. At Tegelberg, both families and ambitious mountain hikers get their money's worth. In winter there is a charming ski area with a 4,2 km long downhill, a floodlight system on the Adler and Reithlift as well as 30 km of tracked trails.

The Buchenberg Railway leads to the 1140 Meter high Buchenberg, into the Lobental and into the Hochplatte area. The Breitenbergbahn brings its guests to the 1838 Meter high Breitenberg, on the Aggenstein, or over the Bad Kissinger Hütte to the Brentenjoch. The Tannheimer Höhenweg can also be reached via them.

The Reutten cable car runs on the Hahnenkamm, on the Gaichtspitze and on the Höhenweg in the direction of Gehrenalpe and Gehrenspitze. The Alpspitzbahn leads to the Alp Seats, the Edelsberg and the transition to the Vilstal.

Also in the beautiful Tannheimer valley there are some mountain railways, such as the cable car Grän, which leads to the Füssener Jöchle, the Reuttener Höhenweg to the Aggenstein, the Schartschrofen and the transition to the Reintal. The Tannheimer Bergbahn brings its guests to the 1882 Metre high Neunerköpfle, onto the Schochenspitze or to Saalfelder Höhenweg and to the anniversary trail. The Krinnenalplift Nesselwängle leads to the Meranoer Steig to Rauth, to 2002 Meter-high Krinnenspitze, to the summit of the Litnisschrofen and to the surrounding high-altitude hiking area, and to the transition to the Birkental.
