The fog horn

The fog horn is a 2224 Meter high mountain near Oberstdorf, which belongs to the Allgäu Alps and is a great excursion destination for nature-loving families, hikers and climbers. The mountain is accessed by the Nebelhornbahn, which takes its guests directly up to the summit, where they can find themselves in a dreamlike landscape and enjoy a view to melt down. The legendary 400-Gipfel-Blick extends over hundreds of kilometers, lets over 400 Mountains look out and offers an almost unforgettable experience. On numerous easy circular trails, which are also suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, you can really enjoy nature and the views up here. A great fun for young and old is a walk around 3 Kilometer long adventure trail "Uff d'r Alp", whose adventure stations along the roadside offer interesting insights into mountain life and the alpine farming. Especially children can discover a lot here and do not come out of the wonder. Also very worthwhile is a hike on the panoramic path at the station Höfatsblick – a very easy and barrier-free path that leads from the mountain station of the Nebelhornbahn below the summit to a beautiful viewpoint that lies on a small hill above the upper Faltenbach valley. Here you have a great view over Oberstdorf and the Allgäu Alps. After enjoying it enough, it goes back to the mountain station, where a restaurant invites you to relax and a playground offers the children the opportunity to let off steam.

One of many other hiking tours that are possible here on the Nebelhorn is the round hike “Pfannenhölzle”. This short walking tour is a bit more challenging, but still family-friendly. At the mountain station, it first follows the course of the Koblat circular hiking trail No. 2, which leads to the picturesque altitude plateau Koblat. This plateau is transformed in spring and summer into a colorful sea of flowers and inspires with breathtaking views of countless mountain peaks. In good weather, even the Zugspitzmassiv can be seen from here. Passing a diverse alpine flora, it goes from Koblat to the boiler below the Nebelhorn summit and from here slowly back towards the mountain station. With its varied impressions and great views as well as the fresh mountain air, this small hike is a real pleasure for the senses.

Sporty ambitious hikers and climbers will of course also get their money's worth at the Nebelhorn. It is especially likely to attract the famous Hindelang climbing route, which is one of the most popular classics in the Alps. Unforgettable impressions are guaranteed when climbing on this climb, but this requires treadability, freedom from dizziness, good condition and appropriate equipment. The climb is secured by numerous steel ropes, iron conductors and hooks, but is still considered difficult due to its length. If you have never been on a climbing platform, you should first try out the two-hour trial lap, which also has a lot to offer. It requires skill and condition. To enter the climbing piste, it goes below the mountain station of the Nebelhornbahn.

Also in winter is worth a trip to the Nebelhorn. Then a family ski area with varied slopes, high snow safety, a half-pipe, ski schools and a toboggan run ensures the best winter sports pleasure. The Nebelhorn really has its charm in every season and guarantees unforgettable holiday experiences.
