In the state-recognized air resort Nesselwang im Ostallgäu, there is a beautiful family hiking area on the Alpspitze with charming paths that lead through the dreamlike pre-Alpine landscape. An attractive destination for such a hike, which makes the hearts of all nature lovers faster, is the Nesselwanger Waterfall, which is located near the middle station of the Alpspitzbahn.

The Alpspitz is a 1575 Meter high mountain in the Allgäu Alps, which is accessible from the Alpspitzbahn and allows numerous leisure activities throughout the year. In the cold months you will find here a great ski area with varied slopes and trails, a high-class fun park for snowboarders and many other winter sports offers. In the warmer time, hikers and families with children on the Alpspitz in particular get their money's worth. Among other things, there is a summer toboggan run, which promises young and old fast-paced gaudi, as well as numerous best hiking trails for every condition level, which lead to beautiful destinations in the Allgäu mountain landscape. Particularly interesting for nature lovers is, for example, a hike to the Nesselwanger Waterfall, which delights with magnificent landscape impressions. Such an excursion can be wonderfully combined with a subsequent ride in the summer toboggan run and the enjoyment of all kinds of Allgäu delicacies in a cozy mountain hut.

A hike to the Nesselwanger Waterfall is best started at the valley station of the Alpspitzbahn in Nesselwang. The Alpspitz is only about 10 Minutes drive from the departure of the A7 Distant and in both summer and winter there are plenty of parking facilities. From the car park of the Alpspitzbahn it goes in an easterly direction up to the Gasthof Sonnenbichl, where a small rest with coffee and cake is possible. Here at the inn is a signpost that leads you to the waterfall path. The gently rising path can be mastered at any time of the year and runs through a wonderfully beautiful mountain landscape. Again and again there are great views over the Alpine foreland. After a relatively short time you stand at the foot of the Nesselwanger waterfall and can listen to the quiet noise and splashes while on a special here set up bank. Then we go up a wooden walk next to the waterfall. During the ascent you have the opportunity to let the diverse impressions of nature really affect and enjoy. After leaving the wooden walkway behind, it is time to breathe. Worthwhile is then a detour to the castle Nesselwang, which is about 5 Minutes reached and which is a typical shield wall castle from the Middle Ages. The original route continues to the centre station of the Alpspitzbahn. Here stands the Genzianstube, which pampers its guests with delicious Allgäu delicacies and refreshing drinks. In total, the hike takes about one and a half hours – correspondingly longer at a comfortable stop in the Genzianstube. Back into the valley you can either take a fast ride on the summer toboggan run, comfortably by lift or on one of the various hiking routes that lead down the mountain.

A trip to the Alpspitze and a hike to the Nesselwanger Waterfall is really recommended to every hiking lover and nature lover. Here on the Alpspitz you are in the middle of a picturesque mountain landscape and can enjoy diverse nature impressions and views of the surrounding peaks.
