Throughout the year, the shore paths are used, which enable great hikes and bike rides with wonderful views over the water on the Allgäuer mountains. Also in the case of the approx. 5,7 Kilometer-long hiking tour from Füssen to the east bank of the Forggensee you can enjoy these views abundantly. The walk takes about two hours and has an easy demand, so it is also well suited for families and seniors. Only people with acute joint problems, it is recommended only conditionally, since it runs largely on asphalt paths. Starting point of the tour is the Füssener Tourist Information in the city center.

You hike down Sebastianstraße at Tourist Info until you turn left into Hochstiftstraße. Immediately afterwards it goes right on a hiking trail, on which you, following the signage of the Romantic Road, reach the Lech. The fascinating wild river impresses with its turquoise water and was especially in the Middle Ages as a trade route of great importance for the region. After crossing the Lech, follow the signs of the Lechhöhenweg, which leads you to the east bank of the Forggensee. While you are walking along the shore, you have wonderful views over the water on the Allgäuer mountains and the Königsschlosss Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. Finally, you will reach the pier in Brunnen, from where you can return to Füssen with a passenger ship between June and October. Alternatively, walk again on the same route to the starting point.

A possible alternative is to turn left shortly behind the Lech Bridge and walk along the Lechufer to Forggensee. There you follow the signs of the Lechhöhenweg to walk along the shore to the ship dock in Brunnen. It is definitely worth taking part in a cruise on the Forggensee, because this is one of the most popular in Bavaria and offers unforgettable views from the lake on the old town of Füssen and the royal castles. The physical well-being on board is of course well taken care of. The passenger ships “MS Füssen” and “MS Allgäu” operate several times a day on the lake during the season, so you can not wait too long for an opportunity. The ship has to wait to go. After the journey, simply get off at the Füssener Festspielhaus and return from there to the starting point.

In summer it is also advisable to crown this hike with some bathing fun in the Forggensee. On the shores there are many cozy lying meadows that invite you to rest and refuel with the sun.
