The Sentenbergrunde

The Sentenbergrunde is an easy approx. 4 Kilometer-long hike, which partly runs directly on the shore of the Forggensee and is suitable for the whole family. The tour delights with fantastic views over the lake on the Allgäu mountains, and in summer it can be combined excellently with a cruise on the Forggensee.

Füssen holidaymakers who want to take an easy and promising hike should take the Sentenbergrunde, which is a flat one. 4 Kilometer long tour that delights with magnificent landscape impressions. The hike leads around the Sentenberg and starts in the center of the small community Rieden on the Forggensee, which is about 5 kilometers from Füssen. Parking is available in the middle of the town or at the DAV climbing hall. The one with one „2“ Circular path marked on the hiking trail signage does not provide any strenuous climbs and runs mostly on paved secondary roads. About a third of the route leads directly along the shore of the Forggensee, the largest reservoir in Germany. The hikers offer beautiful views over the water, which inspires with its turquoise blue color in sunshine, on the Allgäu mountains and the nearby royal castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

From the starting point in the center of Rieden, the hiking tour leads over the Dietringer Straße, past the DAV Kletterhalle, into the district of Osterreinen to the boat port, where the docking point for the passenger ships of the Forggensee shipping is located. From the beginning of June to mid-October, when the Forggensee has its full storage height, two passenger ships run several times a day on it, which invite you to unforgettable round trips. Shipping on the Forggensee is one of the most popular in Bavaria and guarantees fantastic views of the Allgäuer Berge, the fairytale castle Neuschwanstein and the romantic old town of Füssen. Both small and large Tours are best provided on board for the physical well-being of the guests. Here there are small snacks, ice cream, drinks as well as coffee and cake. During the big tours, warm Allgäuer treats are also on offer. A cruise on the Forggensee is now just as much a part of an Allgäu holiday as the visit of the royal castles. The Sentenbergrunde continues from the boat port in Osterreinen, along the Café Maria and the Wilder Graben, back to Rieden. On the way, the hiking friends pass very beautiful lying meadows and natural swimming spots, which invite on warm days to a soothing refreshment in the cool water of the Forggensee. The water also offers the best conditions for all kinds of water sports. Whether sailing, surfing, rowing or water skiing – a lot of sporting fun is guaranteed on the Forggensee. After the leisurely walk, a visit to the doll museum in Rieden is worthwhile, especially for families with small girls. In a house from 19. century here can be a collection of more than 600 puppets and exhibits. These include, for example, teddy bears, puppets and theater puppets as well as a lot of doll clothes.
