The approx. 39 Kilometer-long mountain bike tour around the striking mountain Säuling inspires with magnificent views of the pre-Alpine country, sights on the roadside and a grandiose mountain descent down to the picturesque Plansee. The 2047 Meter-high Säuling with its striking pyramid-shaped silhouette is a landmark of the Allgäuer Königswinkel. Around this imposing mountain leads the presented here ca. 39 Kilometer long mountain bike tour that has a wealth of great impressions to offer. The bikers expect wonderful views of the Voralpenland with its meadows, forests and lakes, the famous royal castles on the roadside as well as a varied route with a grandiose downhill to the Plansee as a coronation. That’s all you can do on a mountain bike tour! The starting point of the tour, which requires a healthy condition and takes about five hours, is the car park at Hohenschwangau Castle in Hohenschwangau. From Füssen it is about four kilometers to the starting point.

Ascension to the pit
From the starting point, the bikers first follow the Neuschwansteinstraße a bit uphill before turning right on a forest road and turning towards the Marienbrücke. From the bridge offers a fantastic view up close to Neuschwanstein Castle and down into the wild romantic Pöllat gorge. The trip to the bridge is worthwhile! The tour continues on the Bleckenaustraße and the Brunnstubenweg towards the south. The path runs first above the Pöllat to the Berggasthaus Bleckenau. Located in the middle of a dreamlike mountain landscape, Bleckenau was once the hunting lodge of fairytale king Ludwig II. Today hikers, nature lovers and just Mountain bikers here with homemade Allgäuer treats strengthen. Then it goes down to the Pöllat and along the creek to a Jägerhütte, where the grandiose single trail Schützensteig begins.
On the Schützensteig, the bikers roll over the German-Austrian border down to the Plansee Landesstraße and then on the right to the Plansee. The second largest natural lake in Tyrol fascinates with its turquoise water and is a popular swimming area in summer. If you pack the swimsuit, you can enjoy a soothing cooling here before you follow the Altenbergweg to the right just before the lake. This is followed by a climb to the Kuhklause and then on to the Neuwaldalpe and Melkalpe. On the way, there are great views of the Plansee and the surrounding Allgäuer and Tyrolean mountains. The bikers finally go downhill on the forest road to then on Lake Urise Turning to the right, and the B179 To follow north. On the Pinswanger Landesstraße it continues until Pinswang, where the mountain bikers on the Fürstenweg go up to the border and then down to the Schwangauer Alpsee. The beautiful Alpsee, which was considered the favorite lake of King Ludwig II, allows on warm days again a cooling in the specially built outdoor pool. Finally, it goes back to the starting point along the northern lake shore.
