Jägerhütte

The Allgäuer Königswinkel around Füssen is a real hiking paradise that leaves nothing to be desired. In addition to countless cozy tours, more challenging mountain hikes are also possible here, which inspire with breathtaking views and beautiful nature impressions. One of them leads to the rustic Alpe Jägerhut, which on 1422 Altitude meters in the nature reserve Ammergebirge.

A hike to the Alpe Jägerhut, which is open from mid-June to mid-September, is a beautiful mountain tour that will delight all hiking friends with a bit of experience and condition. The approx. 17 km long tour takes approximately 6 Hours and starts at the valley station of the Tegelbergbahn in Schwangau, which is only a few kilometers from Füssen. First, the hikers take the Tegelbergbahn up to the mountain station 1720 Meters and can enjoy magnificent views of the world-famous Royal Castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, which perch here in the picturesque Allgäu mountain landscape.

At the mountain station of the Tegelbergbahn, the hikers march over the nature trail “Ahornreitweg” in Serpentines in the direction of Branderfleck. From the beginning, the tour thrills with great views of the vast pre-Alpine country and a soothing high air that refreshes the senses. From the Branderfleck it goes in about half an hour to the maple saddle and then down to the Niederstraußberg. This is followed by a short climb to the Niederstraußbergsattel, before the tour continues half-left on a comfortably walkable path over the Köllebach to the Ochsenängerle. This sprawling meadow is wonderful for a first stop at a cozy picnic.

But the well-deserved break can also be postponed a bit, because soon the hikers reach the Alpe Jägerhütte, on the terrace of which they can enjoy a delicious Allgäuer bread time, which is prepared here from fresh regional ingredients. Homemade cakes and coffee are also on the menu of the alpine pastures, which leave daily during the season. 10:00 The clock is open. Only Mondays are here rest day. While around the mountain pasture the cows graze on the lush green meadows, the hikers relax, enjoy the dreamlike landscape and prepare for the way back.

This first leads them in about an hour on a broad, signposted forest road to the Berggasthaus Bleckenau, which is the former hunting lodge of King Ludwig II. Also here you can of course wonderfully stop and strengthen yourself with Allgäuer treats and soft drinks. Then we continue on the so-called water pipeline route downhill towards Neuschwanstein Castle. If you like, you can then walk through the wildly romantic Pöllat gorge back to the Tegelberg valley station. Alternatively, it is possible to use the minibus from the Berggasthaus Bleckenau, which drives the hiking friends into the valley to Hohenschwangau. The final descent is over 17:30 Clock. From the valley there are still round 20 Minutes walk to the starting point of this delightful hiking tour.

Those who still have enough energy after hiking can still have a lot of fun at the Tegelberg valley station in Schwangau and collect varied impressions. Here there is a summer toboggan run that promises big and small rapid pleasure, and a worth seeing 1934 Discovered Roman settlement that provides interesting insights into ancient technology and architecture. In addition, as mentioned, there are the world-famous royal castles, which can be visited daily.
