If you are in romantic feet and feel like a small mountain adventure, the here presented approx. 27 A kilometre long bike and hike tour on the High Straussberg. Part of the route is covered by mountain bike and the rest on foot. The starting point of the tour, for which about six hours are needed, is the Füssener Bahnhof. Alternatively, there is the possibility to be chauffeured from Hohenschwangau from the hiking bus to the Berggasthaus Bleckenau and to tackle the ascent on foot from there. Whichever variant you prefer: The excursion requires a good condition and some safety, but offers wonderful landscape impressions and great views over the pre-Alpine country.
On the Bike and Hike Tour you board your bicycle at Füssener Bahnhof and cycle along Bahnhofstraße and Sebastianstraße towards Königsschlosssser. After crossing the wild romantic Lech, you will soon arrive in Hohenschwangau. After a total excursion time of about one and a half hours, you will reach the bicycle parking lot at the water reserve, from which you will continue on foot. Now we need to look a little further. At the height of an inconspicuous path on the left, you cross the Pöllat on large stones at a shallow spot. You follow the path a few meters and should now discover a red marker that shows you that you are right. Subsequently, it is about an hour and a half in numerous serpentines up to the branch that leads to the summit of the High Straussberg. The best way to reach the summit here is at the end of a rubble field, from where you can already see the summit cross. Some experience and confidence are needed here to finally stand next to the summit cross and enjoy the fantastic views that now presents itself. The view over the picturesque Voralpenland with its meadows and magnificent mountains makes the rigors of the ascent immediately forgotten and certainly remains unforgettable.
Back to Berggasthaus Bleckenau you can get on the same route. The bicycle can now be driven either on the driveway or the water pipeline. Once again in Füssen lies a great tour in the Allgäu mountain world behind you, which runs away from touristic paths and has a lot of fun and adventure feeling to offer.
