Hiking friends who want to take a great and less strenuous mountain hike on their holiday in Füssen can take a tour to the Otto-Mayr-Hütte in the Tannheimer Bergen. The 1900 Built mountain hut, which is managed from the beginning of May to the end of October, can be reached by several routes, of which we will introduce you to the easiest one here. The starting point of this approximately one and a half hour tour is the car park at the Wirtshaus Bärenfalle in the Tyrolean municipality of Musau. To get there, go to the motorway at Füssen A7, which you leave after the border tunnel at the exit Vils. The signage to Musau now leads you to the car park Bärenfalle / Rossschschlagg. Allgäu travellers who travel by public transport leave the Füssen railway and bus station by bus line 74 in the direction of Reutte and get off at the stop Rossschläg.
At the starting point of this beautiful hike, the hikers embark on a moderately rising forestry and economic route, on which they first walk through a grove, past small water courses. After about half an hour, the forest slowly clears and allows for magnificent views of the surrounding landscape, in which Queen Marie of Bavaria, the mother of fairytale king Ludwig II, has already 19. From the Musauer Alm it continues up the mountain to a branch, where a somewhat steep climb leads to the Otto-Mayr-Hütte. If you prefer to be comfortable, stay on the economic route, where you can also reach this cozy mountain hut. Here, too, there are delicious dishes such as homemade cakes and hearty breadtimes, which can be enjoyed by the view of the imposing gimmick and the Köllespitze, whose mighty rock walls are located opposite the hut. After a fortification in the Otty-Mayr hut, it is worthwhile to look at the alpine flower garden maintained by the Alpenverein, which is located in the immediate vicinity and many rare flowers and houses plants. If you want, you can visit the summits of the Great Silt from the hut in one and a half hours. (2059 metres) and of the kiln (1968 meters) to climb. Both tours are not too exhausting and can also be handled by families. For ambitious mountain hikers more attractive are tours from the Otto-Mayr-Hütte to the Gehrenspitze or the Kellenspitze, the highest mountain of the Tannheim Alps.
