The Vilsalpsee

The Vilsalpsee is an 1165 Elevation meters picturesque water in the heart of the Tannheimer valley. The lake is surrounded by the Vilsalpsee nature reserve, which houses a species-rich flora and fauna, and can be experienced on a simple hike that offers dreamlike landscape impressions.

All nature lovers can warmly recommend a trip there on an Allgäu holiday, because here you can expect a wonderful landscape impression at one of the most beautiful places in the Tannheim valley. The water is surrounded by the nature reserve Vilsalpsee, to which over 700 Various plant species belong, including rare orchids, and can be reached from the municipality of Tannheim. From here leads a road, which, however, for nature conservation reasons of 10 up to 17 Clock is closed, to a parking lot on the north bank, which serves as the starting point of an extremely charming hike around the lake. The hiking trail on the Vilsalpsee runs through a dreamlike nature and enjoys great popularity throughout the year. From the starting and finishing point of this small hiking tour, the car park on the north bank, it goes on a walkable gravel path counterclockwise, past the Fischerstube and across the bridge, towards Weltlingalpe. The path, which leads directly along the shore, offers magnificent views over the water on the magnificent mountains of the Allgäu Alps, such as the 2247 Metre high Gaishorn. Along the entire route, the trippers expect a very beautiful flora and fauna. Among the many plants that thrive here in the Vilsalpsee nature reserve are also rare and endangered species. In addition, the Vilsalpsee is an important breeding and habitat for numerous water birds such as hooded divers and bloated chickens. With a bit of luck, when hiking around the water, red deer can also be discovered, which come to the shore to drink. The green meadows, where the trippers walk along, invite you to a nice picnic on warm days. Of course, the Vilsalpsee with its clean water in summer is also very suitable for a small Cooling. At the rear end of the lake stands the farmed Vilsalpe, which pampers its guests within a rustic ambience with hearty breadtimes and delicious soups. Here you can strengthen yourself with a view of the beautiful natural landscape before going back to the starting point. Since the path on the east side was closed after several stones fell, the trippers walk on the same route back to the north shore.

Because there is a boat rental on the shore of the Vilsalpsee, you can crown the excursion wonderfully with a small boat trip and really enjoy the great nature impressions again. It is definitely worth getting to know this water on an Allgäu holiday, because here you can expect a natural idyll to melt down, so that the whole family spends beautiful and carefree hours outdoors.
