The Obersee and Mittersee in Füssen

The Obersee and Mittersee in the holiday and spa town of Füssen are located in the middle of the idyllic Faulenbacher valley. The outdoor pool is located west of the district of Bad Faulenbach on the Alatseestraße and is open from the end of May to the end of September, in good weather conditions daily. If you want to refresh yourself here, you can expect a very nice spa with springboards. Children can splash in a designated non-swimmer area or let off steam on the children's playground associated with the outdoor pool. A great lounge offers both Sun worshippers as well as people who prefer to stay in the shade, best conditions. Cabins for changing clothes are also available. For the physical well-being and cooling drinks provide a kiosk and a café-restaurant, which also has a wonderful sun terrace, on which you can linger very well and let the soul dangle. Nestled in a wonderful landscape, the Mittersee will inspire recreation seekers, nature lovers and bathers. Anglers also find the best conditions here. There are eels, trout, carp and other fish in the water.

The Obersee in Füssen / Bad Faulenbach

Only a little further in the Faulenbacher valley is the approximately 710 metres long and 230 Metre wide Obersee. It is about twice as large as the Mittersee. Also on its shore is an outdoor pool, which leaves nothing to be desired by bathing friends. Here there is a spa with springboard, a beautiful water slide and a children's pool or a marked non-swimmer area. A playground and cabins for moving are also available. On the lawn belonging to the outdoor pool you can enjoy the magnificent landscape and let the soul dangle. The restaurant here spoils its guests with varied treats from hamburgers and hot dogs to salads, cakes and various varieties of ice cream. There is also a kiosk here. The outdoor pool at Obersee has, just like the one at Mittersee, open daily from the end of May to the end of September in good weather. Anglers also get their money's worth on the Obersee.

Hiking around Mittersee and Obersee

The Mittersee and the Obersee in Füssen inspire not only bathers. Even hikers can enjoy the silence and nature here, in the idyllic Faulenbach valley, during wonderful walks. The Bad Faulenbacher Lake Round offers the best nature impressions and is easy to master even for untrained hikers. At least this applies to the small lake round, which is approximately 45 Minutes around the Ober- and Mittersee with its beautiful natural swimming pools. The large lake round also includes the legendary Alatsee, which is located on the edge of the Faulenbach valley. This route takes about two and a half hours.

The large and the small lake round can also be combined with a course on the "Path of the Senses". The “Path of the Senses” is a journey of discovery for all five senses and a project initiated by the interest group Faulenbacher Tal and some partners. There are stations on the large and small lakes, each of which appeals to a sense in a special way. The path of the senses starts at the big findling on the Fischhausweg and then leads over the Fischhaus- and Kneippwiese to the Mitter- and Obersee. Here you have the choice between the small and the large lake round. The "feeling" is made on the path of the senses by a balancing path, a barefoot path and by the kneippanlage on the kneippwiese. The sense of hearing is naturally challenged by the chirping of birds, the splash of water and the idyllic silence in the Faulenbach valley. The sense of taste is claimed by a drinking fountain at the calcium sulphate source and by the herbal beds on the Kneippwiese. The sense of smell is used on the Fischhauswiese with its fragrant herbs and the diverse Alpine flora as well as in the sulphur water treadmill below the Kneippwiese. Finally, the eyes are spoiled by beautiful natural impressions as well as wonderful viewpoints, which you reach in between. The Path of the Senses combines a beautiful walk with completely natural wellness and is in the truest sense of the word an absolute pleasure for all the senses.
