The approx. 14,5 km long three-lock round is particularly great in autumn, when the foliage coloration has started. The route follows the footsteps of the Bavarian kings and leads the hikers past the world-famous Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles to the Hohe Schloss, which towers over the romantic old town of Füssen. In between, the hikers climb up the Calvary, a crossroads on which the Bavarian fairy tale king Ludwig II. Once upon a time he traveled frequently. The summit of Calvary Mountain is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the area. From it there is an unforgettable panoramic view of the old town of Füssen, the Allgäu mountains and lakes as well as the King's castles. In addition, the hikers can look forward to the imposing Lechfall on this tour, whose natural spectacle they can follow up close from the König-Max-Steg. The three-lock round is considered family-friendly and is one of the absolute hiking highlights around Füssen.

A great mountain hike for autumn leads to the Tegelberg in Schwangau, which is a popular excursion destination throughout the year. The 17,2 km long Tegelberg round has a medium demand and runs from the valley station of the Tegelberg railway via the cultural path Schutzengelweg to the mountain station. Magnificent landscape impressions and unforgettable views over the pre-Alpine countryside make the tour a fantastic experience. On the way, the Berggasthaus Bleckenau and the Tegelberghaus, both once popular destinations of the Bavarian kings, invite you to a cozy retreat. Back to the valley it is on foot or comfortably with the Tegelbergbahn.

If you want to experience a mountain adventure during your holiday in Füssen, the Gemsenwanderung from Vils to Brentenjoch is highly recommended. It has a moderate demand and leads over paved paths and beaten paths from the parking lot of the Vilser Alm to the summit of the Brentenjoch, from which a magnificent view over the pre-Alpine country offers. On the way, the Vilser Alm enchants the hikers with their rustic hut charm and delicious Allgäu delicacies.

Worthwhile and cozy are the tours around the beautiful Hopfensee or Weißensee. Also along the Forggensee – the largest lake in the Allgäu – you can hike wonderfully.
