A simple, scenic mountain hike leads to the Gundhütte, which at Pfronten in 1180 Metre altitude on the south slope of the Edelsberg. The privately managed Gundhütte, which is open from June to November, is located on a beautiful plateau in the Allgäu mountain world and is a great destination for a cozy mountain hike. The cottage is known for its good Allgäu cuisine and has a great indoor playground with climbing wall, suspension bridge, slide and other attractions, so that the hike promises plenty of fun for children at the latest when reaching the destination. To get to the Gundhütte, you drive from Füssen into the center of Pfronten and turn off at the town hall in the Vilstalstraße. This is followed by approx. 3,5 km until you meet the sign to the Gundhütte. The car can be parked here in a small parking bay. In the romantic Vilstal it is now on foot uphill through lush green meadows and forests in spring and summer. On the way, the hiking friends meet on two forks, where they each turn to the right. The route leads from the Gundhütte to the Hündleskopfhütte and from there via the Höhenweg back to the starting point. Less demanding, but also worthwhile is the hike from the Gundhütte to the summit of the 1630 Metre-high Edelsbergs, from which offers a magnificent view into the Alpine forelands and onto the Tannheim mountains.
