Winter hike to Lechfall

The Lechfall round is an approx. 3,5 Kilometers long varied winter hike that leads through the old town of Füssen to the imposing Lechfall. On the way, the hiking friends can look forward to sights such as the time-honored monastery of St. Mang and great winter landscape impressions.

The Lechfall Round is a wintry sightseeing tour at its finest that offers a wealth of interesting holiday impressions. It leads from the romantic old town of Füssen with its medieval houses and sights into the tranquil Faulenbach valley, which presents itself in the cold months as a quiet winter paradise, to the impressive Lechfall. The approx. 3,5 Kilometer-long tour takes about an hour and has an easy claim. Since it runs without significant increases, it is also well suited for families with children and seniors. The starting and finishing point is the Tourist Information in the Füssen city centre. Solid footwear and warm clothing are recommended for this walk.

The romantic old town of Füssen fascinates with narrow winding alleys, along which medieval houses, small chapels, snug shops and numerous places of retreat. The winter hike starts at Tourist Information and leads first through the Reichenstraße to the Baroque monastery of St. Mang, whose origins go back to the 9. The century goes back. For culture lovers, the monastery has a lot to offer with the magnificently equipped parish church of St. Mang, the imposing imperial hall and the museum of the city of Füssen, which is housed here. Passing the monastery, it goes up into the idyllic Stadtpark Baumgarten, which is located behind the landmark of Füssen, the Gothic High Castle. This magnificent building, whose facades are decorated with impressive illusion paintings, houses the Municipal Gallery and a branch of the Bavarian State Painting Collections, which exhibit numerous works of art here.

In the Stadtpark Baumgarten, the winter hikers walk up to a wooden bridge, where they turn towards Kobel. Here the tour leads for a short time over unclear paths, which promises very special winter experiences. On the ridge of the Kobel is worth a look back on the snowy roofs of the Füssen old town. At the next turn, the trippers keep left to walk down into the picturesque Faulenbach valley, where the natural enjoyment is in the foreground. Passing snowy meadows and through a lonely mountain forest, it goes over the Fischhaus and Schwarzzerweg to the impressive Füssener Lechfall. The King-Max-Steg leads over this, the one unforgettable view of the twelve-meter-high waterfall and the surrounding Lech gorge. Worth seeing here at the Lechfall is also the so-called “Magnustritt”, a single monument in the form of two footprints in the rock, which according to legend the holy Magnus left behind when he crossed the Lech with a huge jump when fleeing from pagan persecutors. Opposite in a niche of the clamb is the bust of Maximilian II, which covers the region in the 19. The century was significant.
