A trip to the Saloberalm, a rustic mountain hut above Lake Alats, promises varied impressions and lots of fun, especially in winter. A very nice destination for such a winter excursion is the Saloberalm, which is located above the mysterious Alatse lake, which is about 6 km west of Füssen. To reach the Alatsee, it is best to drive towards Weißensee and then turn left after the traffic light behind the bridge that leads over the highway. Now you are on a road that leads past the Weißensee East car park to the car park on the northern shore of Lake Alats, which serves as the starting point of the hike. For the tour to the Saloberalm you should wear warm clothes and firm shoes, and of course also take a sleigh with you. If you do not have your own, you can rent sleds of different sizes from all providers, which also lend skis and snowboards.

The Alatsee surrounded by dense forests is one of the most interesting and beautiful lakes around Füssen. It is also called the “bleeding lake” because its water has a slightly reddish glimmer in special lighting conditions. The reason for this is a rare purple sulfur bacteria layer in 15 Metre depth whose origin has not yet been fully explored. Around the Alatsee there are many legends and myths; So ghosts are said to be wreaking havoc on its shores, and on the ground lies a valuable gold treasure from the time of National Socialism. First and foremost, however, the Alatsee is a picturesque mountain lake surrounded by a magical snow landscape in winter. From its shore leads a wide and cleared gravel path up to the Saloberalm. The climb is not too exhausting and inspires with magnificent views of the wide pre-Alpine country. With good visibility, the train tip can even be seen in the distance.

After approx. 40 Within minutes, the hikers reach the farmed Saloberalm, where they can look forward to all kinds of delicacies such as Bavarian breadtimes and Tyrolean apple strudel within a cozy atmosphere. In good weather, you can sit on a magnificent sun terrace while the children let off steam on the adjacent playground or just have a snowball fight.
