The Boat Harbour Round

The approximately four kilometer long boat harbor round is a cozy winter hike through Füssen, which has to offer beautiful impressions and great views of the snowy Allgäuer mountains. It leads from the romantic old town along the fascinating Lech to the shore of the Forggensee.

During the boat harbour round, the winter holidaymakers stroll through the picturesque old town of Füssen and follow the wild romantic Lech on his way to Forggensee, the largest lake in the Allgäu. On the way back, from the Königs-Ludwig-Promenade, there is a magnificent view of the Königsschlosss and Allgäuer mountains. The approximately four kilometers long winter hike takes about an hour and has an easy claim, so it is suitable for everyone. It can also be handled with strollers, as the paths of the route are completely cleared. At the Tourist Info, the hiking friends stay on the left to reach the Schulhausstraße, which they follow to the Theresienstraße. Here it goes right onto Sebastianstraße and now twice shortly one after the other to the left into Hochstiftstraße. After the hikers have crossed these, they pass the sports fields and reach the Lechufer. The wild romantic Lech springs in the Austrian Vorarlberg and flows over a length of 264 Kilometers through Tyrol and southern Bavaria before it flows into the Danube. Depending on how the weather was in the previous days, its water presents itself turquoise, green, milky or even brown. The hikers follow the river to the Füssener boat harbor on the shore of the Forggensee, which is a popular leisure paradise all year round.

The largest Allgäu lake is a reservoir that reaches its full water level only in summer. Then it offers bathing rats and water sports enthusiasts optimal conditions, while on the circular path along its shores many hikers and cyclists are on the way. From June to October, two passenger ships operate several times a day on the lake, which invite you to small and large round trips. The shipping on the Forggensee is one of the most popular in Bavaria and inspires with magnificent views from the water on the city of Füssen and the magnificent mountains. In winter, the lake is drained and its ground is walkable. During walks, traces of old paths such as Discover the Roman road Via Claudia Augusta. At the boat station, the hikers keep left, cross the Weidachstraße and walk up to the König-Ludwig-Promenade. This offers a fantastic view of the fairytale castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau as well as the Allgäuer mountains, which are now covered in winter by a white splendor.

At the end of the promenade, the trippers follow the Schulhausstraße, which leads them to the König-Maximilian-Platz. From here it is now not far to the Füssener Tourist Information. The approximately one-hour hike in the cold winter air has a wealth of varied impressions to offer, which you will gladly remember. After the tour, it is worth stopping at one of the cozy cafes or restaurants in the old town. With a culinary treat, the excursion ends enjoyably and it goes back to the holiday home satisfied.
