The hops round

Fans of the gentle endurance sport Nordic Walking can take a round trip around the beautiful hop lake during a holiday in Füssen and enjoy great views of the Allgäu mountain world. The approx. 7 Kilometer-long lap runs almost without gradients and is also excellent for Nordic walking beginners.

The hops lake, which is one of the warmest pre-Alpine lakes, is the centre of the Kneipp and Luftkurort Hops am See belonging to Füssen. Because of its southern flair and the magnificent waterfront, which 180-Grad-Panoramablick Granted to numerous Allgäu mountains and the world-famous fairytale castle Neuschwanstein, hops on the lake are often referred to as the “Riviera des Allgäus”. Here you can wonderfully come to rest, enjoy nature and let your thoughts wander. Friends of the Nordic walking from Scandinavia have the opportunity to circle the hop lake on a varied tour of about seven kilometres. This comes almost without inclines and takes about two hours. Start and finish point is the Tourist Information in Hopfen am See. From the foot of the foot comes the B310 towards Weißensee and then on to hops on the lake.

The best signposted circular path on the Hopfensee holds dreamlike impressions for about two hours. You will get to know the lively waterfront along which cozy cafés and restaurants line up and from which an unforgettable panoramic view of the peaks of the Ammergauer, Lechtaler, Tannheimer and Allgäuer Alpen offers. Also the world-famous fairytale castle Neuschwanstein, the King Ludwig II. between 1869 and 1886 Built in the style of a magnificent medieval castle, can be seen from here. At the waterfront there is also a beach bath with kiosk and cozy lying meadows, which invites you to stay on warm summer days and allows wonderful bathing fun. Especially for families with children, the hop lake with its flat sloping shores is an ideal bathing area.

Away from the waterfront, the hops lake round path runs through an idyllic natural landscape that offers diverse impressions. It leads past reed areas where waterfowl such as hooded divers and chickens have built their nests, and through picturesque meadows and forests with an intact flora and fauna. The soothing air and the dreamlike views of the Allgäu mountains make the tour a real pleasure for the senses. Along the way, you can also expect some kneipp plants that invite you to wellness in harmony with nature and strengthen your body and mind. The highlight is a floating Kneipp Island directly in the Hopfensee.

Worthwhile on a Nordic walking tour around the hop lake is the small detour up to the castle ruin hops, which perched above the village on a hill. As the oldest stone castle of the Allgäu, the high medieval complex, of which some remains of the wall have been preserved, occupies a special place in castle history. Spectacular is the view from the ruins to the Tannheim mountains and the Ammergau Alps.

A Nordic walking round around the hop lake impresses with diverse nature impressions and fantastic views of countless Allgäu mountains. The healthy effect of Nordic walking can also be enhanced during the tour by soothing kneipp applications, so that the round is highly recommended in several respects.
