The Stuibenfalls

The Stuibenfalls are several beautiful waterfalls in the Reute Nature Park region, which can be reached on a family-friendly and promising hike and are a great excursion destination. A hiking tour to the Stuiben Falls inspires with magnificent landscape impressions and offers the opportunity to get to know an interesting pilgrimage church, have fun at the trend sports canyoning or participate in a cruise on the Plansee.

The Stuibenfalls in the nature park region Reutte are a fantastic excursion destination for all nature lovers and hiking lovers. They are located in a landscape as if from the picture book and can be reached on a family-friendly hike, which delights with magnificent views and a soothing air and can be combined with some interesting leisure activities. The starting point for an excursion to the Stuiben Falls is the substation at the Planseewerke in Reutte-Mühl. Coming from the Allgäu, you first drive to the town centre of Reutte and follow the signage in the first roundabout in the direction of Metallwerk Plansee. After doing this work If you have passed, drive a little further until the substation of the electricity plant Reutte. There you park your car and continue the tour on foot.

The hike to the Stuiben Falls inspires from the beginning with great natural impressions. First you walk along rugged rock walls and follow a small creek uphill until you reach a bridge from which you can already see the first waterfalls. A short time later you will encounter a fork in the road, where you can decide between the Hermannsteig and the Ministersteig. Since the Ministersteig leads quite steeply uphill, it is recommended for families and everyone who would rather take it comfortably to follow the Hermannsteig. On the easily walkable and secured climb it passes the small waterfalls on free terrain and on a picturesque forest path up to the large Stuibenfall. Moss-covered steep rocks, rushing turquoise water and in the background the magnificent mountains – the natural backdrop at the Stuibenfallen is truly paradisiacal. After a small climb, you will reach a great viewpoint, from which you can very nicely overlook the Stuibenfalls and the basin.

Those who are on the road in the summer at the Stuibenfallen will find wonderful opportunities for swimming here. You will then follow the signs to the Plansee and walk at the upper end of the Stuibenfalls to this picturesque water, on which passenger ships regularly sail until autumn. A cruise on the Plansee is certainly a successful crowning of this great hiking tour. Worthwhile is also a view into the pilgrimage chapel Frauenbrunnle, which is located here on the shore of the Plansee. Return on the same route until you reach the fork Ministersteig/ Hermannsteig. Walk here comfortably downhill over the Ministersteig, then you can still cross a relatively new suspension bridge, from which offer very beautiful views of the Reuttener Talkessel.

Every Wednesday, the Alpine School Outside offers a guided evening walk from the chapel Frauenbrunnle to the Stuiben Falls and the Ministersteig, which lasts about two and a half hours. In addition, the trensport of canyoning enjoys great popularity at the Stuibenfallen. This means walking on a gorge from top to bottom by abseiling, climbing and also jumping.
