Four-lake round

The Easy 9,3 Kilometer-long four-lake round is a very nice bicycle tour for connoisseurs, families and e-bike riders. On low-traffic cycle and business routes, it leads along four picturesque lakes through the Allgäu dream landscape and inspires with magnificent nature impressions and views of the mountains. In summer, the bike ride can of course be wonderfully combined with bathing fun in one of the lakes.

The beautiful Allgäu around Füssen offers cyclists a lot of gently hilly, or even completely level routes at the foot of the mountains. Great popularity among connoisseurs, families and e-bike riders enjoy cycling tours around the numerous picturesque lakes here in the region. The Vier-Seen-Runde leads through the idyllic Faulenbacher valley, which is something like the natural spa park of the city of Füssen, along Mitter- and Obersee to the legendary Alatsee, which is known to many as the scene of an Allgäu crime with the edgy Commissioner Bruchinger. After a short break in the inn Alatsee there is a detour to the Weißensee on the program, which is located in the same name, rural shaped foot portion. On warm summer days, all four lakes of course also allow wonderful swimming fun and thus a welcome cooling between cycling. Thanks to its easy claim, this bike ride is also excellent for seniors and children. Start and finish point of the tour is the car park Morisse (P3) in feet. To get there, you first drive over the A7 Or the federal roads B310, B16 or B17 to Füssen and follows the parking guidance system there. From the Füssen railway and bus station you can reach the starting point of the bicycle tour in only 2 Minutes on foot. The optimal time frame for the four-lake round is from April to October.

From the parking lot Morisse, the four-lake round goes directly to Bad Faulenbach, which is also known as the “valley of the senses” and where the enjoyment of nature is absolutely in the foreground. The largely traffic-calmed Faulenbacher valley impresses with small picturesque lakes, species-rich flower meadows, beautiful hillside forests and impressive rock formations. This scenic gem is a paradise for nature lovers, recreation seekers and wellness enthusiasts. Due to the healing calcium sulphate and sulphur springs Bad Faulenbach was already known as mineral and moor healing bath at the time of the ancient Romans. Along the Ober- and Mittersee, which include beautiful natural swimming pools, which in Summer are popular bathing destinations, it goes uphill to the mysterious Alatsee, which from Allgäu crimes around Commissioner Bruchinger enjoys national fame. The actually beautiful mountain lake is also called the “bleeding lake” because it has a rare layer of purple sulphur bacteria in 15 meter depth in special lighting conditions has a slightly reddish coloration. Around the waters are many legends and myths; ghosts are said to dwell on its shores and a gold treasure from the times of the National Socialists is said to be located on its ground. Soberly, however, the Alatsee is only a really dreamlike mountain lake surrounded by dense forests. It is well suited for a welcome cooling on warm days or a small rest. In the Alatsee inn, cyclists get refreshing drinks, hearty bread times and also warm Allgäu delicacies. Trained cyclists can take a detour from the Alatsee to the popular mountain hut Salober Alm make to enjoy on a great sun terrace all kinds of culinary treats and a dream view over the vast pre-Alpine country. The Salober Alm delights with Allgäuer Hüttencharme and is also a trendy excursion destination in winter, especially because of its natural toboggan run. However, the steep approach to the Salober Alm is not suitable for children and untrained cyclists. Everyone else should do this little side trip.

Over the Saloberstraße, the Vier-Seen-Runde leads on a brisk descent to Weißensee in the Füssen district of the same name. The Weißensee, which was created during the last ice ages by the Lech Glacier, is surrounded by wide green meadows and is a popular destination in the area. On its shores there are many quiet, romantic spots where you can relax while overlooking the beautiful Allgäu mountains and let the soul dangle. The outdoor pool Weißensee attracts in summer with cozy lying meadows, marked non-swimmer areas and lots of bathing pleasure in the cool, clean water. Via the Kobelhangweg and the Kemptener Straße finally back to the starting point of this, especially scenic extremely charming bike ride. After the Four Lakes Round, it is still wonderful to relax in the Faulenbacher valley. The large findling on the Fischhausweg starts the “Path of the Senses”, which consists of experience stations, each of which appeals to one of the five senses in a special way. For example, there is a barefoot path, a calcium sulphate drinking pool and a Kneipp plant. Wellness and nature enjoyment combine in a unique way and provide relaxing holiday moments. After the beautiful four-lake round, this is a great end to this bike trip.
