Tour of the Red Stone in the Lechtaler Alpen

Experienced hiking friends who are in the mood for a small mountain adventure on their holiday in Füssen should take the tour on the 2366 Do not miss the meter-high Red Stone in the Lechtal Alps. The ascent of the 2366 Metre-high Red Stones is a great experience, which is, however, only reserved for hikers with condition, safety and vertigo freedom. The tour lasts about six hours and should be completed in good weather. The starting point is the car park shortly before the small Tyrolean village of Bichlbächle. To get there, drive from Füssen on the A7 in the direction of Reutte until Bichlbach. There you continue towards Berwang and after about two kilometers turn to Bichlbächle. The car park is located behind a bridge on the right. For the tour, you should wear solid mountain shoes and weatherproof clothing as well as take enough provisions with you, as there are no stopping places on the way.

At the parking lot, stop at the signpost and hike on a business route, along the Stockachbach, towards the Red Stone. The route leads through a charming mountain landscape with dense vegetation in numerous serpentines up to Bichlbächler Jöchle 1943 altimeters. On the way, there are always fantastic views of the northern side of the Red Stone Massif and the Lechtaler Alpen. At Jöchle you march up to a fork in the road, where you turn right to continue the tour on the south side of the sheep squirt.

Always follow the signs and red markings placed on stones. Subsequently, you pass debris slopes and go through Latschenklefer until you reach another turn. Turn right again and follow the narrow path that leads you uphill in Serpentines. You reach an intermediate height, which is very suitable for a break at a small bread time. Afterwards we continue up to the Red Stone Massif. Now there is a steep and demanding road section, which is partly secured with steel cables. Treadproofness and dizziness are prerequisites for mastering the racketeering and then finally on To stand on the summit, from which offers a breathtaking view of countless mountains. After enjoying this sufficiently and taking a mandatory photo next to the summit cross, the descent follows.

It is best to take the same route here as on the ascent. Alternatively, hike over the west side to the Älpelestal and further in a northerly direction until shortly before Berwang. At the end of a forest road turn right and walk parallel to the Talbach, past Berwang, until another road. Follow it to Bichlbach, from where it is not far to the starting point. The alternative route is longer and difficult to walk when wet.

The varied mountain tour of the Red Stone offers a wealth of charming landscape impressions and phenomenal views. Except for a few short challenging passages, it runs largely moderately, so that the hiking friends can really enjoy the diverse impressions. For experienced hikers, the tour is definitely a real highlight, which contributes to an unforgettable holiday in Füssen.
